About Us

According to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies State of the State of Maternal & Infant Health in Georgia report (2016), postpartum depression affects 9-16% of postpartum women in the U.S. Survey respondents indicated that there is a need to increase screening and treatment for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and adverse childhood experiences (ACES) among women that are childbearing age, pregnant, or new mothers. The need is evermore present for melanated birthing people.

It is our mission to increase the number of women that have access to the culturally appropriate preconception, interconception, postpartum, and prenatal services they need to improve infant health outcomes. Healing Sacred Scars Foundation provides holistic perinatal support to under-resourced mothers, children and families.

HSS supports the multigenerational transformation of melanated families through perinatal mental health and adjacent services. HSS Foundation offers perinatal services via a holistic lens utilizing culturally specific designs. At Healing Sacred Scars, we believe that every woman should have a safe, sacred perinatal experience.
